  A cautionary tale comes with this driver and its pre-cert. predecessor as well as any driver that bears the 12.3 version is missing a file called “atipdlxx.dll” which effectively destroys overclocking. The file is needed to use AMD Overdrive, Sapphire TrixX, Riva Tuner, and I assume MSI Afterburner as well.

  This is only really an issue if you are going to do a clean install Or if this is installed on a fresh sytem with no other driver installed. As in a new hardware install or a OS reboot,etc. If you were to upgrade install over a previous driver like the 12.2 preview 12.2 WHQL or before you will still have the file from that driver install intact and should experience no issue. If you do not OC you may not notice it, but if you clean install (ie) remove the CCC & WDM Drivers completely with a driver cleaning software you will NOT be able to overclock.

  It seems to cause other smaller issues as well like small instabilities and AOD 4.1 driver showing up as a uninstalled [!] driver in your in your device manager, and it will contually poll itself as an error in your event viewer over and over.
  The missing file prevents Sapphire trixX from being able to disable Ultra Low Power Service. Basically this keeps your card in stock power states and prevents OC- all sliders will jump back to stock in any OC programs.

  (1.) The fix if you already have this is to(if you are able to reg edit:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\ControlSet001\\Control \\Class\\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\000 (or 000X where “X” is any number)
  Finding “EnableUlps” and setting it’s “value data” to “0″.
  You do not need to touch the “EnableUlps_NA” entry.
  (NOTE This will fix the error issues but you still cannot overclock, so this is only for users that do not overclock at all.

  (2) download the “atipdlxx.dll” and copy it to the “syswow64″ in the “Windows” directory. Here is a copy of the “atipdlxx.dll” from the 12.1 RC1 Drivers: http://www.mediafire.com/?phl44hvned2pwab

  (3.) Uninstall everything CLEAN (Sweep) and install Cat 12.1 WHQL or 12.2 Preview drivers then install 12.2 Pre-Cert. or 12.2 WHQL on top of them (upgrade install) and you should avoid the issue.

  (4.)Perhaps the simplest way..(Some may not prefer if they are paranoid about the staility of thier system recovery capabilities. ) is to simply do a “system restore’ to a point before youdo anything with a driver past 12.1 WHQL or 12.2 Preview. Then if you want to use 12.2 Certified use the fixes described above.
