    Unsurprisingly, the Switch 2 helped propel total US gaming hardware sales in July, which surged by 21%, from $317 million in July 2024 to $384 million in July 2025. The Switch 2 was the only major console platform that posted growth in July 2025 in the US, with PS5 dollar sales dropping by 47%, Xbox Series X|S sales sliding by 69%, and original Switch spending declining by 52%.

    The Switch 2 was July 2025's best-selling console in the US and the top-performing system so far in 2025 overall. PS5 was No. 2 for July 2025 and year-to-date.

    Globally, the Switch 2 sold more than 6 million units in the seven weeks after launch, exceeding Nintendo's expectations. The company plans to sell 15 million Switch 2 consoles by the end of March 2026.
