Introduction
To emphasize a function and create a whole series based on it: this is what Sony Ericsson has routine with. They have already released masses of Walkman and Cyber-shot handsets, and the R series tries to promote a well-known and nowadays highly spread extra, the radio.
I think it’s unnecessary to hype a radio inside a phone this much. What the hell can they do with this feature? What new functions can be added besides RDS? Can they put something in that makes people acknowledge that this is “even more a radio” than other? Of course I had a couple of ideas, some of them have been realized, but they’ve still omitted the greatest thing: this phone won’t receive radio broadcasts without a headset either, although it would have been cool to put a retractable antenna on its top.
By the way we have another cheap Sony Ericsson, with the old boring menu system, based on the usual scheme. The box, which came from XXL GSM and had a charger and a stereo headset inside, and although this is not a high-quality one, but this time it’s important not to use any other Sony Ericsson headset, as only this one supports AM radio stations.
