Introduction

There are two topics that fit the introduction of C905. First we could meditate on why does a phone need an 8 megapixel camera, does this have any meaning, is it normal if some kind of phone is better in resolution than the camera at the editorial office. I think our regular readers already know that we have been thinking about this in regard of the 5 megapixel handsets as well, and we have been thinking so much that we have written a comprehensive review.

The other topic would be to tell off the current range of products at Sony Ericsson, but we don’t have to talk much about this, as last quarter’s results tell everything. It might happen, that due to this the manufacturer will think again if it’s worth separating the camera and musical phones so much that they omit some important features from one category and other stuff from the other category.

The development of C905 didn’t begin after the financial report of course. Maybe when the first sketches and specs were laid down not even last year’s results were known. But they could have felt something as they have finally had the courage to tamper a bit with the menu that hasn’t changed for years, we have lots of never before seen features, so just as much as we have been disappointed by the dullness of W595, we can be just as happy for the new features of C905.

C for Camera, so this is the Cyber-Shot series. Back when K750i has been launched the manufacturer has done such a high-quality job that they couldn’t live up to that level ever since. Lately the others have performed much better than Sony Ericsson from this point of view; Samsung, the most active rival, is very close to releasing Pixon besides Innov8, which is a real standard in the field of 8 megapixel camera phones, although it has been quite alone in this matter until now. The pretender is here, so it’s time to take a closer look at what it’s capable of.
