As for packet data transfer, EDGE is supported, but only the weaker kind. In practice, the pre-installed Opera Mini took more than a minute to load the Mobilearsenal homepage, that’s compressed to about 60 KB (the other browser gave up trying). As you have probably guessed web browsing is recommended only for those who have some real powerful nerves, we should be using the mobile internet for text emails. At local level we only have Bluetooth for transferring files, since there is no cable-based communication on the phone.
There is a 700 mAh battery under the hood. During the test period I had only very calm and peaceful days, so I didn’t talk very much, but I was using the phone quite heavily. During the five days the battery meter fell back to one third, so the phone’s standby time is not bad.
The overall picture is quite mixed. The phone’s design is quite nice, it’s slim, it’s light, and it’s youthful. It’s a good thing that the low-end category also has the screen resolution used in more expensive phones, but the downsides due to this, the poor musical performance and the camera are no positive aspects. If we’re willing to spend a couple of euros more, then we can even find such an alternative, even from the same manufacturer, that has a much better display, has expandable memory and has a better camera. This phone might be a proper choice for those who would like such a design and cannot afford 53100, but are content with the basic telephony features.
