..and from the inside
There is not much difference between new generation E-Ten phones in hardware: the 400 MHz Samsung SC32442 CPU is an old friend, just like 64/128 MB large RAM/ROM. The latter should really be doubled, the central memory being the most problematic, as we can only use 28 MB for running programs. Thanks to the load of pre-installed software we only have 31 MB storage space, but this can be expanded at least.
X600 runs Windows Mobile 6 Professional, and it does it quite fast. I didn’t experience any slowdowns during the test period; all applications had a short startup time. This experience is backed up by results from Pocket PC Mark – I would especially like to mention the graphic test’s results, it’s worth comparing with marks obtained by glofiish devices with a VGA resolution display. It’s clearly visible that this Samsung chip prefers displays with a lower resolution.

I will only be discussing pre-installed software in a few words, as there is a really huge amount of them. There are a few changes compared to X500: the launcher and system monitor named M-Desk has now been left out from X600, instead we have SPB Mobile Shell, which is a great system that embeds itself in the Today screen. It has a lot of functions, like speed diali, weather forecast and software quick-launching.
