Introduction
In the case of such a dynamically moving sector, like telecommunication, the reviewer-tester gets easily tired of having the umpteenth phone of the same kind for review. Lately this feeling has been stronger than even in case of mid-range Nokia, low-end Samsung and Walkman branded Sony Ericsson phones, so when I’ve asked for W902 from mgsm.hu I didn’t expect much good.
The Walkman series seems to wear out, and although recently the portfolio has been expanded with lower-end phones, it’s hard to bring something new to the higher price range. As a matter of fact it wouldn’t have been that difficult, but somehow they didn’t manage to solve it; two key components have been missing to have a real top handset: normal, or even better, premium-quality materials and autofocus for the camera.
I am happy to report that these are present on W902. The big question from now on is that aren’t the Sony Ericsson guys a bit late with this? The others have already created something similar. The phone currently costs about 300 euros (SIM-free), and for this price it is expected to get a real breakthrough.
