I think that the 5 megapixel camera in G900 was completely useless, and the subject of our current review has a perfect attitude towards this matter. G700 is basically a business model, so a 3 megapixel image sensor is more than enough, although we could be somewhat unhappy because of the lack of autofocus, the inclusion of this small feature that still has a great impact on quality, wouldn’t have made the phone much more expensive.

The camera’s software knows everything that G900, except focusing with finger. I didn’t miss this one. As usual we have the test pictures right below, and analyzing them we can see that the designers didn’t use every effort, so they could avoid making a better phone than some other Cyber-Shot models. This isn’t such an important feature, soon the camera-less G700 will be launched, as in many workplaces the use of camera phones is banned. Video recording is available at QVGA resolution.

There are no extra changes in the musical part. The player knows the same as in G900, it has MegaBass, it can run in the background, it can group tracks by a lots of criteria, so it’s just perfect. Sound volume is surprisingly high, but the fact that sounds are played back through the speaker on the phone’s back, so G700 has some strange sound distortion when placed on a desk.

The headset was no big deal; it’s the usual headset we get for every non-Walkman phone. We will need it, however, if we want to use the radio, as this application starts up only if it sees an accessory it can use as an antenna. The radio, that has RDS support, has the usual high quality.
