Data transfer, battery
The cost reduction has unfortunately resulted in the lack of data transfer features, although this is where the least amount of saving should be made. G900 was already in the unfortunate situation to have 3G, but no EDGE or HSDPA, and in the case of G700 we don’t have even WLAN. SO we have the local Bluetooth 2.0 and USB (cable included).
The Opera browser works fine, but no matter how good it is, it can’t be better than the Minimap technology used by Nokia, although pages can be broken in different ways and the application also supports landscape view.
The battery under the hood is the same in G900, so there are no differences in the two handsets’ talk- and standby times either, I had two days of uptime for G700 too, and then the charger LED started blinking red and I had to charge it.
Summary. It’s easier to forgive the flaws of G700. On one hand because of its price and the other hand because of the controls. I still think that this is a product that has nothing new, besides the fact that in a couple of months it might have a price that makes it a serious alternative to a conventional phone without an operating system. And probably this has been the goal.
