Music, applications, GPS
C702 performs just as expected in terms of music. It knows everything a Walkman does; it even has MegaBass, so we have no reason to complain. We just have to acquire a normal headset and we can make a fine musical handset from the Cyber-Shot phone. FM radio is also present, and has the RDS feature too. The phone performs surprisingly well when on loudspeaker; some ringtones have a powerful volume. An outstanding example is the alarm clock: I have accidentally left it turned on and it woke up the whole neighborhood on Saturday at 6 AM.
There are only two fine applications this time. AccuWeather, already known from W760i, downloads weather forecast for the following days from the Internet (this of course needs an active internet connection), while FaceWarp is an old buddy: it can be used for distorting pictures, mainly portraits. It’s an unnecessary toy.
This time the first one on the list of games is Brain Juice. It can be used for measuring the freshness of our mind, by counting the number of moving squares / circles / triangles on screen in the shortest time possible. Foto Quest Fishing is still a meaningless stupidity, where we have to take photos of fish in a diver suit as they are swimming around us, and we have to use our reflexes to press the button – that’s all.
Unfortunately the java version of Wayfinder is not included this time in navigation, so we have good old Google Maps. If the phone has no GPS connection, then it tries to estimate our current position based on cell information, but if there is connection with the minimal number of satellites, than it pinpoints us on the map with super precision. There is a map and satellite view, it can plan routes if we want, but it won’t navigate us, it won’t talk, it won’t animate. The app named Tracker is capable of creating statistics of our movement, speed and the length of movements. It can also show nice charts based on this data.
