There have been previous reports about Microsoft developing its new, easy to use operating system that is to be launched under the name Windows Mobile 7. There have been a number of screenshots leaked about the new software, but according to latest information the completely redesigned platform should not be expected to be ready before mid-2009. Microsoft has great expectations of WM7-based devices. The new, completely redesigned, visually updated WM7 might even throw iPhone's operating system off its throne. Of course we shouldn't forget that until than Apple's OS will have two and a half years of head start and there will be great developments on that software too. Another thing we have to take into consideration is that the introduction of a new operating system doesn't end by finishing developments. It first has to be sent to OEM partners and software developers so they can integrate it into their systems, so this means another considerable time loss. It seems, however, that Microsoft chooses a different path, as they have recently acquired Danger, the company responsible for manufacturing T-Mobile Sidekick phones, so they are likely to start experimenting with producing hardware for themselves.
