It seems that the development of the Windows Mobile platform is becoming less and less important for Microsoft, at least compared to Zune. A sign of this is that when the .NET-based XNA game development pack has been announced, Windows Mobile has been on the list of supported platforms, besides X-Box and PC, but since XNA Game Studio 3.0 came out, WM has been replaced by Zune.
Unfortunately this is not the first case when the Redmond giant "forgets" to develop Windows Mobile. For example Zune supports pocasting, while the mobile version of Windows does not. It's not that important, but it's a fact that Zune owners have access to lots of unique content (music, TV shows), which are unaccesible for Pocket PC owners. Of course there would be no problem with that, but it contradicts a bit with the company's statement that their mobile platform is a multimedia system.
We can only hope that we'll soon receive the real development that we've been waiting for so long.
