The Finnish manufacturer has reported in a press release about Broadcom, being a supplier of 2G solutions since a long time ago, will be shipping phone and modem chipsets for 3G and HSDPA solutions, radio transfer and mixed signal processing systems as well. Besides Broadcom, Nokia and Qualcomm have announced a closer cooperation, aimed at creating Series 60 mobile phones, which will have fully integrated chipsets that could mean a new level of energy efficiency and performance. The two companies will first develop new solutions only for the North-American markets, the first results being expected by mid-2010, by which time Symbian Foundation should also finish the open and unified Symbian platform, based on Series 60. Devices based on the world's most popular mobile operating system and Qualcomm's MSM7xxx and MSM8xxx processors (known for their outstanding multimedia and speed performances) are expected to open a new chapter in the product range of the Finnish giant.
