Nokia might start making notebooks

Reuters reported that the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer is thinking about expanding its product range with notebooks. Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, CEO of Nokia, has emphasized that his company has been making MIDs since a long time ago, so notebooks would just complete the product range. According to Kallasvuo, due to the convergence between phones and computers, in five years the border between the two categories could easily disappear. The company leader has also told that there are millions of people who first meet the internet on their phone, not on a computer. The common fields of telecommunication and the PC industry have become evident at the Mobile World Congress as well, when the world's third largest computer manufacturer, Acer, launched eight new mobile phones, but besides that Lenovo and market leader Hewlett-Packard also have their smartphones. According to Ben Wood, market researcher at CCS Insight, Nokia is probably afraid of entering an overstocked market, even though their gigantic production capability, suppliers and logistical system would make it more than apt for the job. Meanwhile we should also note that network operators have started offering notebooks as well, as with the spreading of the mobile internet the demand for such devices has also increased.
