Lots of you have asked us to provide some additional information about Samsung Omnia HD. As you know, the latest top handset from the Korean manufacturer is now not based on Windows, but it uses Symbian S60 Touch, this is what you can see on Nokia 5800 and this will once be on Sony Ericsson Idou as well. Based on our current experience this Symbian version is a much more flexible platofrm than Windows Mobile, which is natural, as it is a very fresh software.
The guys at Samsung didn't take any chances in order to achieve success. The 360 x 640 pixels large touchscreen has a diagonal of 3.7" and it is based on the OLED technology, it has an astonishing picture quality and has a view angle of nearly 180 grades.
As for the feature, the Korean engineers have crammed every possisble function in the handset. It can play back HD resolution videos and the 8 megapixel camera can record 1280 x 720 pixels large videos at 24 fps. We have never seen such a thing before on a mobile device.
The data transfer arsenal is also full, as there is support for 7.2 Mbit/s HSDPA, WLAN, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB. The built-in GPS, the geotagging and simle focusing of the camera, the motion sensor, the 3.5 mm headset jack and the 8 or 16 GB memory are just the tip of the iceberg. You can see the video below:
We've been assured that just like in the case of Omnia, we will again have a beta version phone which we can test in cooperation with Samsung's engineers for a long time and we will again have a blog about the handset's evolution and features.
