MWC2009: Hyundai Dolphin

The latest phone from the company has been inspired by a dolphin.

Hyundai didn't have a very large stand at the congress, and right at the entrance we have seen their latest model, inspired by a dolphin.

The side of the handset is said to resemble a dolphin. Of course this has no practical use at all, but they think it looks cool. We'd rather say that the shiny case might not be that good, you practically can't hold the phone in such a way to avoid getting it dirty. The shiny parts are not made of metal, so it's a tough question how long will the lacquer last on the back.

On the inside there is a simple phone, based on the MTK platform. It's of course GSM-only, it won't be no data transfer champion.

The phone has a touchscreen display and the rotating dial below the display is used for getting around the menu and accessing music playback functions. As it's basically a musical model, sound quality is provided by Yamaha - we'll see, or hear, how will the results be. The internal, 100 MB of memory can fortunately be expanded and according to the company's representative we will get a miniUSB-3.5 mm jack converter in the box, so we won't have to rely only on the headset that comes with the phone. Doplhin, arriving soon, will have a price of 270 euros, and that's quite much if you ask us.
