This year Samsung announced mostly touch-focused phones. The manufacturer has this time based the press conference on the idea that they want to offer purely touch-controlled handsets for all segments, so theyhave started on this path in matters of business, music and power conservation as well. Part of the new handsets have been leaked earlier than they should, but they have still mentioned an impressive amount of phones. Besides this they have also announced that they will focus on Windows, Symbian and Linux phones too, and related to this matter they have launched a developers portal as well.
Omnia HD
The first model is Omnia HD, which is of course the spiced up version of the Omnia series, but it's not based on Windows Mobile, but on Symbian S60 Touch, just like Sony Ericsson Idou, announced yesterday. The newcomer has a 3.7" AMOLED display, HSUPA support, it of course has WLAN, onboard memory can be 8 or 16 GB and it can be expanded with a microSDHC card. The camera is now an 8 megapixel piece, there is a GPS receiver inside, along with a pair of stereo speakers and of course we have a gyroscope too.
Blue Earth
Blue Earth has been mentioned before, this is a handset that has a large solar cell on its back. It's called Blue Earth because Earth is blue when viewed from space.Samsung is planning to announce additional models focused on environment protection.
BeatDJ
Beat DJ has been the representative of the musical line, this is a rather round phone, which also has a touchscreen AMOLED display, and high-quality music is provided by the Bang & Olufsen IcePower technology. It also has stereo speakers, and what makes the phone a "DJ" is that music can be mixed, we can apply effects on tracks or even do some scratching. The user interface has been designed with the musical functions in mind. At last there is a 3.5 mm jack on the phone as well and the manufacturer is launching a new PC studio with the phone.
Ultra Touch
The handset called UltraTouch has the updated version of the previously known Samsung TouchWiz system, the phone is practically a continuation of the line that started with F480. The new feature of the interface is that we can now use more screens of widgets and we can scroll between them. Lots of new widgets are available, but the platform has become somewhat more open as well, developers can create new widgets. We can download such mini applications on the phone from the Internet and widgets can now auto-refresh from the web, so for example weather forecast can be always up-to-date without user interaction.
We can hopefully get some hands-on with the new handsets at the Samsung booth and then we'll cover them in more detail.
