This is the part that I cannot write much new about: latest Series 40, completely like on the other previously reviewed dozens of similar handsets, those who are interested in an in-depth review or those who don’t really know what’s it all about should check out our article about this platform. The new 6600 is completely average in terms of speed, it’s not fast, it’s not slow, and it does its work in a stable and reliable manner. The menu system has a grid layout by default, it has 3 x 3 icons and there are 8 themes, we could have seen all of them previously.
The organizer functions have nothing new about them, there is an easy to use calendar with moth, week and day views, an alarm clock that works even when the phone is turned off, a to-do list, a notepad, a calculator, a stopwatch, a countdown timer and as a bonus there is a Chinese-English dictionary too. This is of course included only because this handset came to us from Asia.
There are six games on the phone: Backgammon, Golf Tour, Highroller Casino, Rally 3D, Snake III, Sudoku. The list of applications includes a converter, Messenger, Opera Mini, Presenter, world clock and WidSets. This list can be expanded with other Java applications, which can be installed on the 15 MB internal memory or the memory card. Regarding this last one I have to note that the memory card slot is under the battery, so we have to turn off the phone in order to swap out the card, which is not a great thing to do.
