UIQ went bankrupt

UIQ, owned by Sony Ericsson and Motorola, is closing down definitely.

When Nokia has announced the acquisition of Symbian in order to create a unified and open Symbian platform, it has become evident that the fate of UIQ has been decided. After the backing out of Motorola and then Sony Ericsson, the existence of UIQ has practically become meaningless, as both owners have joined the initiative led by Nokia. UIQ Technology, having two hundred employees, has announced on the 5th of January that they cannot continue operation. Johan Sanberg, CEO, has told to Reuters that in the current financial situation it is absolutely impossible to start a different kind of business.
