It is possible, that Sony Ericsson is not going to make any more devices for the Japanese market.

The daily business newspaper in Nikkei reported, without marking its sources, that this is summer is the last time for Sony Ericsson to present a device exclusively available at NTT DoCoMo, after that the company is going to concentrate its efforts on Chines, European and American markets. Neither Sony, nor Ericsson did reply regarding the news. Toshiyuki Kawamura, spokesperson for the Japanese-Swedish mixed company, reported that his company has truly began negotiations with NTT DoCoMo, but these are with regard to a revision of the planned devices, not the termination of production. Mr. Kawamura emphasized that Sony Ericsson is still committed to the Japanese market and neither any decrease in the number of devices, nor the termination of production are planned. In Japan there are 100 million mobile devices for 127 million people, as network providers have rigorous specifications for both device interiors and exteriors and these seriously limit the manufacturers' possibilities. Japanese Sanyo has fallen a victim of competition - their mobile phone department has been taken over by Kyocera, while Mitsubishi has permanently stopped all production last week.
