The name Mitsubishi might not tell anything to many people, but the manufacturer has been active on the market previously. The "Trium" series might ring a bell, it was distributed by Vodafone, even though it didn't impress everyone. Even after this, the Japanese manufacturer was still active for a relatively long time, but only produced for the Japanese and American markets. The device on the picture below is one of the newer handsets from the manufacturer which will be available in the offer off NTT DoCoMo. The manufacturer's mobile division struggles with a serious deficit, which might only be corrected by successes in America. There is no news regarding if they want to make models for Europe, although they could have some serious success on the tech-hungry European market with an exciting new phone.
Update: Mitsubishi has announced that it is ending its cellphone manufacturing business, a venture that goes back some 25 years with the introduction of car phones on NTT's network. For what it's worth, the company says that it'll continue to support its devices and move the 600-odd employees in the business to other parts of the company. It also says that it will "work to maintain and further strengthen the partnership with NTT DoCoMo through the communication related business [it aims] to expand," so don't get too teary-eyed, DoCoMo.
