Samsung is planning to acquire SanDisk

Hirdetés

One of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in the world, Samsung, has officially announced that they want to acquire all departments of SanDisk, thus strengthening their position on the market of NAND-Flash memories. One of the reasons for this acquisition is the falling price of memory cards, the reason for these being the more and more powerful competitive wars. Acquiring a competitor means a decrease in competition and it of course boosts incomes. According to Reuters, however, this is not the only reason for the acqusition, but another cause might be the patents owned by SanDisk, as Samsung wouldn't have to pat a yearly fee of $354 mil. USD for these. Besides this the enforced position would come in handy against Toshiba too. Nothing is sure about the acquisition yet, at least SanDisk's point of view is not known.
