Toshiba is planning to acquire SanDisk

Hirdetés

Only a couple of days have passed since the rumor spread that Samsung is planning to acquire SanDisk, thus strengthening their position on the market of Flash memories. After the long preparations SanDisk refused Samsung's offer of $26 USD per share, which is although 56 percent higher than the current price, but much lower than the $28.75 USD rate on 22 May 2008. It looks like Toshiba also wants to take its part of the acquisition procedure, since if Samsung acquires SanDisk that means that the Korean manufacturer becomes almost the single ruler of the NAND Flash chip market. The interesting part is that both Samsung and Toshiba are strategical partners of SanDisk. SanDisk didn't yet confirm that Toshiba has launched an offer for acquisition.
