The Garmin-Asus stand is in hall 7 at the expo. This is where the new G60 has been displayed. nüvifone has been announced a long time ago, we've seen a prototype at last year's CeBIT too, but since then pretty much no news has arrived from then until Asus has arrived. The renowned hardware manufacturer helped speed up things a bit and the first two models have arrived. They are G60 and M20.
The G60 has Linux operating system and the speed of the handset displayed was completely alright. Currently the OS is not open, no additional applications can be installed on it, but later on they are planning to enable this. Of course the whole handset is focused on navigation, Garmin's system has the well known design on G60 as well.
The handset has quad-band GSM and triband HSDPA support, which works at 3.6 Mbps. The phone is not too large, the 112 x 58.1 x 14.6 mm is still the usable category. The 3.55" touchscreen display with a resolution of 272 x 480 pixels is the usual resistant, non-shiny screen and it can display 65 thousand colors.
There is a 3 megapixel autofocus camera on the back, it can be used for geotagging as well. The on-board memory is 4 GB large, which can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 16 gigabytes in size.
The device has a 2.5 mm headset jack, but they really should have used a standard 3.5 mm one. The battery's capacity is 1100 mAh.
nüvifone G60 is expected to be launched in Q2 2009. There was no information available about the price at the stand, since they are planning to launch it primarily in cooperation with network carriers.
