Garmin had a large stand at Hannover, and they had a reason for this. They have launched four new models on the market of car navigation systems, adding several new features to the otherwise large set.
nüvi 1300
Two new series have been launched, 12xx and 13xx. The two new model families have the same features, but 13xx devices have a 4.3" display, while the other series feature a diagonal of 3.5". A common feature is the slim design and the pedestrian navigation, which takes mass transit into consideration as well. For now four German cities are included, but officials say that new cities will be added continuously. These can be downloaded for a price of 10 euros per city. In spite of this series being a slim one as well, the battery is told to keep the devices online for up to 7 hours.
nüvi 865T
The successor of 765T is 865T. It has all the features of the previous model, but it can be fully controlled through voice commands. Not only addresses can be entered this way, but we have access to all functions. As a bonus we get a remote control that can be installed on the driving wheel, which has a button on it: pressing this activates the navis microphone and then it waits for a voice command.
zümo 660
The zümo family, created for motorcyclists, has a new member, the 660 is slimmer and has a less extreme design than its predecessor. It still has a rubber case and it's also water-resistant. Besides the old zümo 550 there is a nüvi 550 as well, which is intended for cars, but it's also water- and shock-resistant.
