On the occasion of the Mobile World Congress, HTC had a couple of important announcements. The sucessors of the highly popular Diamond and Touch Pro have arrived, and they have signed an important strategical cooperation agreement with Microsoft.
After the Microsoft press conference the CEO of the Taiwanese company stood very kindly at our disposal, and although a lot of people would have liked to have a few words with him, he had some time for everyone.
Peter Chou, CEO of HTC
During the interview he told us that they won't wait for Windows Mobile 6.5 in order to launch the two handsets, but they will be availble with the current WM 6.1 and the owners of Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2 will be provided a free upgrade.
The executive has also said that besides the large markets, they are also focusing on ones like the Eastern-European, and although Windows Mobile 6.5 won't be translated into more languages than 6.1, but HTC will surely launch loaclized versions of their handsets.
Unfortunately he couldn't disclose any more information, but he assured us that we will have an opportunity for a longer, more in-depth interview.
