LG KP500: Cheap touchscreen phone

Hirdetés

In the shadow of 8 megapixel phones LG launched an alternative at an affordable price to push touchscreen phones to a wide audience. LG KP500 is made for those who want a touchscreen phone with balanced features and an affordable price. The 3", 240 x 400 pixels large touchscreen, capable of displaying 262 thousand colors, has the manufacturer's Flash-based user interface running on it that can be controlled with fingers too, besides the supplied stylus. The stylus might come in handy at most when using handwriting-recognition and editing photos. Thanks to the built-in gyroscope the contents on the screen get automatically rotated according to the handset's orientation, so we get a huge QWERTY keyboard when writing an SMS or email if the handset is held horizontally.

The motion sensor can also be used for playing games. The four games that are on the phone make heavy use of this feature. It is not known if Java applications will be able to take advantage of the possibilities provided by the sensor. The quad-band GPRS and EDGE handset has only a 3 megapixel fix focus camera which has very limited video recording capabilities. The 48 MB of internal memory, which can be expanded with a microSD card, can store music, pictures and Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files as the phone can display these too. LG KP500, equipped with a stereo FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1 and a 900 mAh battery has a size of 106.5 x 55 x 11.9, weighs 89 grams and is expected to become available from October, but its price has not yet been revealed.
