Hands-on with Samsung Innov8

Our regular readers have probably already seen our blog series presenting the Samsung i900 Omnia prototype, which had 8+1 parts. The series has been very successful, considering the number of comments, clicks, feedback and questions, but fortunately not only our readers but Samsung has also been very content with our work and so they have sent us another prototype handset with a similar goal: here's Europe's first 8 megapixel phone, Samsung i8510 Primera!

We have received this handset too for long-time testing, but as opposed to Omnia we don't have much time until launch as the gadget will be in stores in a couple of weeks. This is the reason why we cannot take such a significant part in refining the software like we had at the Omnia, but we hope that this series will also be favored by our readers.

Hirdetés

Before anything else I would like to write a few words for those who have somehow didn't hear of it yet. The handset, codenamed Primera, is the flagship of Samsung smartphones, the great competitor of Nokia N96 - so it is a Symbian phone that is mostly a multimedia machine, or a "multimedia computer" as Nokia likes to call these. Its list of features has practically anything that exists nowadays, but it's not interesting only beacuse of this: it looks like Primera will be the first cell phone with an 8 megapixel camera to be sold on the world. Furthermore, according to forecasts it will be launched before N96, which might create a really interesting situation on the market...

That's it for the first time, in the next part we'll take a closer look at the camera. Until then here are the phone's specs and a couple of pictures. Feast your eyes!
