Menu, basic functions
On the inside it's the same thing as J770. The menu's structure, the themes and most of the functions are the same. There's no problem with that, as all three color themes are nice, the standby screen looks cool, the quick menu is useful, we can't say anything bad about speed, and the white theme provides a usable interface even for the visually impaired, as the display's size is rather large in this category. It's just that we've seen it a couple of times. And it's still freaking annoying that the OK button opens up the browser from the standby screen.
The phonebook can store 1000 contacts, has the usual fields, there are no problems with it, we can search it, it's logical, what else do you need? Maybe vCard support would have been a plus, as the software couldn't do anything with a business card I've received in SMS. Messaging has no surprises either, we have T9,SMS and MMS, which have the same editor. When a text message is made up of at least four parts, it's automatically converted to an MMS, but we can undo this from the options. There is a small email client as well, but it doesn't support attachments.
The calendar has the usual month, week and day views, it's easy to use. We can have four kinds of entires: meeting, anniversary, holiday and task. It can store up to 400 events, which will surely be enough for a time, but we can use an automatic deletion feature as well, which cleans up unwanted, expired reminders. Unfortunately the different kinds of entries have no different colors on the week view. The alarm clock is the usual, it can store five alarm times, it has snooze and works even if the phone's turned off. No surprises from the stopwatch, the calculator (now with added scientific features) or the world clock (map view) either. There are lots of games installed on the phone, older stuff like Freekick and ArchAngel are free, but the more complicated ones are only demo versions.
