Nokia N95 8GB - bigger, better?

Hirdetés

Introduction

Nokia’s top model is a rather famous phone. Everyone has heard of the N95 and everybody knows it as being very good or very awful, that it is a fairly demanded model and until know it’s review has generated the most replies in given time in the forum. It wasn’t a really flattering test, the phone has received quite a large amount of criticism, but the time elapsed since then has justified the negative parts too.

Then N95 has been released, everybody had been waiting it, but the first version of the software had a serious amount of problems. We have been disappointed mostly by the camera but the GPS wasn’t a top quality one either, not mentioning that the software locked up quite a lot. In addition the quality of the N95’s assembly varied a lot from phone to phone, the main problem being that the back cover wasn’t firmly attached and it wobbled a lot. There are some super stable N95s but most of them are poorly assembled.

I can’t keep track of the software’s versions when the long awaited update arrives, which is expected to correct the flaws of its predecessor. Well the situation is that – and I think I won’t blow the punch line – that these demands haven’t really been met. In order to not to rely only on our memory when judging the innovations of the N95 8GB, we borrowed an old N95 for the review from XXL GSM who have also kindly supplied the new phone.

Therefore this is a situation of N95s against each other the question is that is it worth changing, does the new model know that much more, have the mistakes been corrected, and anyway: was there a meaning in launching this phone? We won’t explain every little detail, those which didn’t change can be read in the review of the original N95.
