Data transfer, battery
Tri-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE. That’s all that we can make use of in terms of mobile networking on the small LG, which is a rather poor performance. Okay, the great competitor G600 doesn’t know more either, but in turn that has a not-so-weird menu system and the camera is also better. Not mentioning that the Samsung is a much older model. There is a browser that of course browses, but it doesn’t have much features and it wouldn’t have been any point to enhancing these features at such a speed.
At local level we have stereo Bluetooth (2.0) and USB connection. The software is worth installing on the computer for the latter, if we’d like to make full use of the handset’s contents. The battery under the hood takes it for max two days, which I think is a poor performance for a handset that has no 3G support. The indicator is broken too, in the morning it displayed a 2/3 capacity and by 2 PM it went offline.
Summary. LG KC550 could have been good if they had been paying a bit more attention to everything. The exterior is okay, the buttons are not, the camera is not the best thing and the radio doesn’t run in the background. This forced black background is not cool at all, an inverted version would have been great. It’s evident for me that the phone is based on Samsung G600, but it can’t live up to the almost one year old Korean model.
The key to success is the price – just as usual. Currently the phone costs €175 EUR and if this can become lower than the actual price of Samsung G600 than KC550 might even have a chance. But not until then.
