Veneered phone concept from KDDI

Japanese KDDI came up with the idea of a strange, layered phone.

We have already seen a number of very strange phone concepts from Japan, but the "Ply" concept, designed by KDDI, inspired by veneer is something that surpasses anything else. On first sight of course the phone with a huge display is nothing special, but if we take a closer look we can see the trick, the layers ordered one above the other, all of them being operable separately and having dedicated functions. Of course the designers' fantasy has gone wild over here. The layers include stuff like a printer, a pico-projector and an analog clock that has its arms rise above its surface. Although the concept is really exciting, it's still not very probable that people will be running around with such phones on the streets of Tokyo soon.
