On the market of camera phones we can see a kind of segmentation. While some manufacturers see the key to success in increasing the number of megapixels, other prefer to introduce optical zoom. In terms of sales, both have their positive effects, while both of them have quite a negative effect on the quality of pictures. Samsung W480, pictured below, doesn't use the 5 megapixel CMOS camera of European models, but a completely new 5 MP CCD picture sensor, capable of 3X optical zoom. The tiny lens inside the device, thanks to the higher quality picture sensor, will probably provide better pictures. Samsung W480 supports 7.2 megabit HSDPA, Bluetooth and has a microSD card slot. It costs $480 USD and its only problem is that it will be available exclusively in Korea.
