The iPhone integration recently announced by Mercedes-Benz is made to replace previous, not as good iPod solutions. The new iPhone cradle, besides avoiding a number of uncomfortable things, provides some new features. Thanks to the new solution the controller of the iPod and the iPhone can now use the car's main and secondary display, the one that is behind the steering wheel and it can be controlled both from the steering wheel and the COMAND controller. The cradle also charges the phone, and it also uses the car's antenna as an external antenna and can increase signal strength. Besides the track list the phonebook can also be displayed on the car's main screen; this feature wasn't available on previous Bluetooth-based Mercedes-Benz solutions. Those who already have an iPod kit or a Media Interface pack can buy the new pack for only €39 EUR, while the full package will cost €249 EUR in Germany.
