The demand for small phones and large displays have pushed manufacturers towards completely new concepts. The idea of using flexible displays is not new, such solutions are already available on the market, but these displays cannot be folded tightly. Samsung has announced its special prototype at CES, which looks like a normal phone, but when opened we can see the large, folded OLED display, which is in fact made of two separate displays and there is a thin separator line visible between them. Kyocera's EOS concept uses a completely differnt solution: the whole phone is one giant OLED display, which can be folded at two places, so when not used it can be very compact and the display is even protected from damage. The device is planned to be usable in two positions. When completely it would function as a single gigantic touchscreen device, and when folding up the bottom third, it would become a communicator with a full QWERTY keyboard. It is not yet known when could the dream become reality, but Kyocera would like to launch lots of its concepts in the near future.
