Community portals are becoming mobile

Hirdetés

Adapting to mobile lifestyle, more and more community portals are becoming available on mobile devices. According to estimations of ABI Research there will be about 140 million people using such mobile services by 2013, which means an income of 410 million dollars for operators. The fast spreading is currently limited by the bit high data transfer costs, but later on mobile community services are expected to become more popular in Brazil, India, China and Russia too. Most mobile services will be available free, like MySpace of Facebook. The only problem is that network operators don't really like to share their income from data transfer with operators of these community sites. Michael Wolf, analyst at ABI Research, thinks that it would be ideal if mobile subscribers would pay 2-3 dollars a month for these services. Besides the rather low income from data transfer, online community portals could have a serious revenue from ads.
