Apple iPhone SW 3.0: More than a hundred new features

Apple has recently announced the new features of the latest firmware for iPhone and iPod Touch, which comes with more than a thousand new developer interfaces and over a hundred new functions. The most important new features are the full clipboard, A2DP (stereo Bluetooth, which won't be available on the iPhone 2G), landscape view usable everywhere, global search amongst all contents on the phone, official MMS support (also unavailable on iPhone 2G), separate e-mail deletion and forwarding, automatic WLAN hotspot searching, Bluetooth file exchange and remote control, password manager and Safari browser with YouTube support, multi-image attaching, Exchange support, direct iTunes registration, live video- and sound streaming, sound recorder and shake control. In order to use the fully integrated clipboard we have to double-tap on the text we want to select, then a selection box appears, which can be resized to set the range to be copied. After this the text is copied on another double-tap. Search will be available directly on the standby screen, we just have to pull our finger on the display. Support for the App Store has been improved as well, since updates and additional features can be bought directly from the applications.

The developer beta version of Apple iPhone 3.0 is already available for registered partners, but we'll have to wait until summer for the final edition. Apple iPod Touch owners will also have access to the update, although not for free, but at a price of 9.95$.
