Xroad vs zümo - bikers

Hirdetés

Introduction

Navigation systems became quite a common thing in cars. For prices starting around 100 EUR we can obtain fine little devices and those who really need a PNA already have one. Possibilities for motorcyclists are much more reduced, however, only Garmin zümo and TomTom Rider have been available until now, but they have a challenger, a gadget from Tibo, which is nicknamed Xroad. And by the way it’s much cheaper than both Garmin’s and TomTom’s PNA.

The last time I have been sitting on a motorbike was when I hit a tree with my friend Puppy’s Simson, as on some amateur game console the brake and acceleration were reversed, so I used the latter one instead of breaking in front of the tree… the consequences are evident. A navi made for motorbikes should be tested on a motorbike anyway, so my buddy Tibor had the chance of testing the two devices and forming an opinion about them.

Tibor didn’t hesitate on accepting the task, and he seemed proper for it anyway because of his name. Tibor has been racing on motorbikes for more than 21 years now and uses them in the everyday life too. He has many bikes and drives even a car, so he’s already a good friend with the navigation voice guy (even though this is quite a one-sided friendship), thus he’s no stranger in the world of navigation devices.

Both devices were offered by Speedshop for testing. Since TomTom is hard to obtain in these parts, we had Garmin to compete with Tibo. There are many editions of the Gamin (we had 500 Deluxe), which differ amongst each other mostly in included maps and accessories, and even the cheapest model costs more than Tibo Xroad.
