Phone calls, data transfer
I had no problems during phone calls, I found sound quality satisfactory. The phonebook can store 1000 names and we can add a total number of extra fields to these, which are the usual: e-mail and web address, picture, form of address, two addresses (home and work), note, and unique ringtone. The call log can display received/rejected/missed calls together or separately. There are profiles and Z555i can ring and vibrate at the same time.
The device supports MMS messages, has an email client that handles attachments and authenticated IMAP servers. When writing messages the device still has the habit of showing the remaining character count only when there are 20 left; this annoys me big time in all Sony Ericsson phones. The web browser is the usual “nothing extra”, it can display pictures, play back sounds, it has fullscreen and text only views, it can break pages by screen size and it has no Flash support.
The GSM module is tri-banded (900/1800/1900 MHz), we can use GPRS or EDGE for data transfer. There’s no infra port, Bluetooth is of version 2.0 and it supports stereo sound transfer (A2DP). Transfer speed is 50 KB/sec at most, no matter the version number.
