Windows Marketplace: Dozens of forbidden things

Hirdetés

With the launch of the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, the Windows Marketplace for Mobile online app store will also start up officially, which has dozens of limitations for developers. As we know, Microsoft rates and distributes up to 5 applications and their updates for a fee of 99 dollars, and 70 percent of all sales go to the developer. According to the limitation in this PDF file, the developers cannot create software that promotes other online stores or that are available elsewhere as well, they cannot offer updates that can be purchased from other websites, VoIP services, they cannot promote the prices of other providers, they can finance themselves only from ads accepted by Microsoft, they cannot modify the dialer, MMS and SMS editor interfaces, they cannot change the default browser, search engine and media player, they cannot share the user's location and other personal data without approval from the user and the applications cannot be larger than 10 MB in case of OTA downloads. Part of the limitations have been of course requested by network operators, and the most sensitive of these is probably the VoIP limitation.
