Time for transparent and flexible phones

Hirdetés

Probably many of you still remember the Nokia Morph concept from the picture below, which has been the Finnish manufacturer's vision of the future, where handsets will be transparent and flexible. It might be a bad news for fans of metallic phones that these handsets will be made of pure plastic, as it really wouldn't be practical to make a phone out of mercury. Many have considered this as a crazy dream, but researchers at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have announced a new kind of memory chip, that is almost completely transparent. TRRAM (Transparent Resistive Random Access Memory) is very similar to CMOS solutions currently in use, so with its help storage devices can be created. According to the researchers this is just the first step, as they are working hard on solutions that make chips flexible, so Nokia's Morph concept soon won't be as futuristic as it has seemed at first.
