TeaShark: Opera Mini has a challenger

Hirdetés

TeaShark, currently in its testing period, is based on Java MIDP 2.0 and uses the main concept of Opera Mini, namely it doesn't download whole webpages, but it brakes them up in smaller pieces, with the help of servers, that can be downloaded faster. The application is only 120 kbyte large and connects to the web through WebKit3-based servers. One of the interesting features of the software is, that it can open many pages at the same time (tabbed browsing), just like desktop browsers. All tabs have a thumbnail preview, so we can browse between history and active elements with the help of the small pictures, just like in the case of Opera Mini.

The browser has a history feature and it can automatically restore our last session on startup. TeaShark recognizes phone numbers, like Opera Mini, and calls them on a click. The Java-based browser can also search on a page, which can come in handy on a tiny screen. If someone still prefers finding stuff on its own, than he can use the two level zoom, which shrinks content on the page for a broader view. Bookmarks can be easily organized with the help of colors, so addresses can be grouped any way we like it. Another unique feature is, that TeaShark can directly enter text in text boxes on web pages, without the need of opening up the standard text entry screen of the phone, and it can also remember text entered in these text boxes. Of course we can use conventional text entry too, it's enough to click on the text box and the phone's text entry screen opens up, with all its functions. The currently beta, freeware application can be downloaded here.
