Opera Mini 4.1 beta is out

Opera Mini's success is not at all due to luck. The Java application built on a client-server architecture can be used on practically any Java-enabled mobile phone, while it brings the comfort of desktop browsers for Java MIDP 2.0 devices, mostly because of the virtual mouse cursor and the very comfortable key combinations. The browser's latest beta version is already available on the manufacturer's website. This version of course can have some smaller bugs, but the nearly 50% increase in download speed is more than enough for compensation. It is another new feature that Opera Mini 4.1 can download and upload pictures and documents without the need to exit the browser. This feature is available on phones that support Java-based file system access (JSR-75). Another file system access-related function is that Opera Mini can now download full web sites, for later offline browsing. The software can finally search for texts on a page and since it remembers visited web addresses it offers choices during typing. The beta version is not posted on Opera Mini's homepage, but it can be directly downloaded from mini.opera.com/beta. The software is free, but of course data transfer costs have to be paid for.
