Sony Ericsson: Better naming scheme

Hirdetés

An interesting post has appeared on the SE-World forums, stating that the new Sony Ericsson models will finally have a logical naming scheme, that won't be changed in the future. Previously the Cyber-shot models were part of the "K" series, which also included a number of non-camera phones, but this is now history. As it is known, the model names of the Japanese-Swedish manufacturer include a letter and three numbers. The letters from now on will stand for the series: "W" for the Walkman, "C" for the Cyber-shot, "S" for amateur photography, "T" for the classic elegant phones and "V" for phones made for Vodafone. The first number indicates the device's category. 8 and 9 for high-end, 5, 6 and 7 are for mid-category and smaller numbers represent low-end, entry-level phones. The second number is a simple serial number inside the category, while the last number represents the device's form factor. 0, 1 and 2 are for conventional candybar devices, 3 and 5 for slider phones, 6, 7 and 8 are clamshell handsets and 9 stands for other form factors. It is visible that the number four is not used, as it is considered unlucky.
