NTT DoCoMo: The "fragrance playlist" can be shared

NTT DoCoMo is about to start the testing of their latest service, which enables their customers to send Fragrance Playlists to a fragrance device through an infra port. This might seem an April's fool joke for European people but it's not. These fragrance devices, available in Japanese households since 2005, mix specific fragrances from preset ones. The new version can even use multimedia content (even MIDI ringtones) together with the fragrances. Playlists necessary for the device can be downloaded with i-mode-capable devices, and these can be forwarded to other recipients after editing, or can be enjoyed with a fragrance device. With the help of this new, internet-based solution from NTT DoCoMO, the smell of home can be set up from far away, with the help of an internet-based interface. During the test period 20 men and women will try the service and the future of the project will be decided upon based on feedback from them.
