Nokia and Skype are cooperating

Hirdetés

Thanks to the cooperation between Nokia and Skype, the world-famous Skype application will be available on the Finnish manufacturer's smartphones, providing not only instant messaging, but also voice calls over the Internet. According to the manufacturer's announcement, the new function will be first avaialble on Nseries N97, launching in Q3. Most Nokia Nseries models have WLAN access, but 3G support is practically a default thing. Free Skype calls and the extremely cheap landline calls might be a very attractive option for many users, although we shouldn't forget that in some countries the network operators don't allow the use of VoIP applications neither on WLAN, nor on 3G networks. Although this cooperation is a very important step, as new phones will come with the application allowing access to 400 million Skype users, the free Fring already offers similar features on any Series 60 or Windows Mobile model. So those who don't want to wait the arrival of N97, but would like to use the functions of Skype, have a visit at the Fring website where the application is available for free download.
