Nokia has to offer three software platforms in its phones. In the low-end segment they have Series 30, Symbian-based phones come with Series 60, while Series 40 is used in the classic mid-range. This has gone through a huge evolution in recent years, but no model has brought any significant breakthroughs. Many spy pics have been a hint about Nokia 6260 Slide's existence, but without any detailed specs it might have only seemed like a standard upper-mid-range slider. The presence of the 5 megapixel Carl-Zeiss camera has been clearly distinguishable on the first pics, but 6220 Classic already had such a thing. The first Series 40 6th Edition phone, however, is a much higher-class handset than its predecessors, as it has such parameters like a 2.4" HVGA (480 x 320 pixels) display, 10.2 megabit HSDPA download and 2 megabit HSUPA upload support, stereo Bluetooth 2.1 EDR and WLAN module, GPS receiver and TV-out. Another new feature is the 360 grade navigation ring, which allows the picture and maps to be scrolled in any direction. The camera has only two possible flaws. The first is that instead of a Xenon flash there is only a double-LED, while on the other hand 640 x 480 videos can be recorded only at 15 frames/second. As for web browsing we have the WebKit-based browser well-known from the Series 60 platform, which, together with video playback support from Flash Lite 3, is a great advancement. Nokia 6260 made a new step towards making full use of microUSB, as we cannot only transfer data, but also charge the phone. The musical features include a built-in stereo speaker, an FM radio, 30 hours of continuous music playback (thanks to the 950 mAh battery) and Bluetooth playback, but instead of a standard sound jack we only have a 2.5 mm output, but at least it works as TV-out as well. Nokia 6260, coming early next year in black and beige, has 200 MB of internal memory, which can be further expanded with a microSD card. The handset is 99.4 x 46.5 x 15.4 mm large, weighs 114 grams, and one of its greatest flaw might be that compared to Nseries models with a dropping price, the sum of €299 euros might look to much.
