Motorola is now only fourth

Motorola has officially reported about their last quarter results, which have included further losses, just like analysts have expected. While in the same period last year the whole company had 60 million dollars of profit, with a turnover of 8.81 billion dollars, this quarter they had 397 million dollars of loss with a revenue of 7.48 billion dollars. The networking department had a 23 percent increase in profit, so they had 403 million dollars of profit. The situation at the mobile phone department is, however, much more grim. The department had 248 million dollars of loss in the same period last year, but their income has dropped by 31% to 3.1 billion dollars this year, while their total loss has increased to 804 million dollars. The demand for the company's devices has also decreased. While during the June-September period in 2007 they have sold 37.2 million phones, this year they have managed to sell only 25.4 million Motorola phones and thus they have passed on the bronze medal to Sony Ericsson.
