Mobile phones used as a boarding pass

While mobile phones have evolved a lot in the last decade, most airports still have terminals that can hardly compete with a smartphone. Although it's a slow process, but more and more airlines have recognized the possibilities given by mobile phones, both in terms of onboard use and ticket booking. Passengers of American Airlines, when boarding at the O'Hare airport in Chicago, can use their mobile phone as a boarding pass. This only requires a phone with e-mail support, on which the email boarding pass with a QR code (2D barcode) can be downloaded, which is then scanned with a barcode reader when boarding. As of November 17 the service is available on Los Angeles International and John Wayne Orange County airports and the boarding passess are available on the airline's on-line check-in site.
