Half of the world is using mobile phones

Hirdetés

According to ITU's (International Telecommunications Union) recently released announcement, by the end of 2007 there were 3.3 billion mobile phone subscribers worldwide, which means 49% percent of Earth's population. Of course this doesn't mean that every second man on the world has a cell phone, as usually business clients have both a private and a business phone number. The greatest development is in Africa, where in between 2005 and 2007 the number of subscribers has increased by 39%. In Asia in the same period the growth was 28%. India announced 154, China 143 million new subscribers during the past two years. The number of landline subscriptions decreases continuously, as for example in Africa only 10% of all subscribers are using landlines. The number of landline subscribers has increased by 1% worldwide. In many cases the new landline subscriptions are connected with the continuously growing number of Internet subscriptions.

The change in mobile phone subscriptions between 2005 and 2007, divided in regions.
